Rational construction of superhydrophobic PDMS/PTW@cotton fabric for efficient UV/NIR light shielding

The problem of global warming is becoming more and serious, the energy consumption increasing. Materials with high solar reflectivity have great potential in field saving environmental protection, received extensive attention from researchers. In this work, we successfully constructed superhydrophobic, UV-resistant self- cleaning cotton fabric cooling effect by depositing potassium titanate whiskers strong near-infrared low surface polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) on fibers, water contact angle 151.9 ± 0.9°. average temperature was 5.1 °C lower than that bare cotton, sunlight 83% infrared emissivity nearly 90%. Furthermore, human body can be reduced 3.1–4.7 under direct sunlight. After 20 washings, remained almost stable still had a certain effect. prepared superhydrophobic has advantages simple preparation, economic value, excellent performance, shows application prospects outdoor clothing.
